Serve By Listening & Learning to members of the Cherokee People as they share with us stories about their culture. When your District Conference Team met with the Cherokee People, they shared with us that learning about their culture was the greatest act of service we could provide their community. This session will be held on the 2nd Floor of the Event Center.
Dental Hygiene Kits: Friday, 2pm
Help us pack 500 Dental Hygiene Kits for the Cherokee County Elementary Schools. We've teamed up with the Rotary Club of Murphy in District 7670 to make this project a success! We're also asking each District 7690 Rotary Club to bring select items. Your club will be assigned these items by our Service Chairs, Alice Jordan & Sandra Roseborough. Be sure your donations make it to Cherokee! This service project will be held of the 2nd Floor of the Event Center.
Gardening & Planting Project: Friday, 1:30pm
Enjoy a beautiful day outdoors as you assist with gardening & planting, much like the farming tribe of the Cherokee People! Meet at 1:30pm at the Extension Center (876 Acquoni Road, Cherokee) and you'll caravan over to The Cherokee Center for Plants. Gardening Tools will be provided, but be sure to bring your own gloves and dress appropriately! As a special addition, once you wrap up the project, guides will take you to the Kituwah Mound which is the location of the Cherokee People's Mother Town for a short visit & history.
Park Cleanup: Saturday, 2pm
Help keep the Smoky Mountains National Park beautiful! We'll be working with the Rotary Club of Bryson City on this service project. Meet at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center (1194 Newfound Gap Road) at 2pm and you'll caravan to the national park. Be sure to dress appropriately for a park clean up (closed toed shoes encouraged!). All tools & supplies will be provided by our friends with the Bryson City Rotary Club.
